Security deposit

A security deposit of $500 is required at this time to secure your reservation and cover any potential damages during the rental period. The remaining balance will be payable in cash, card or digital wallet. If the renter cancels the trip for any reason, the deposit will be fully refundable if cancelled before the cancellation period. If not, your deposit may be applied towards a future charter. *Please note that dates are subject to availability. Should there be no equivalent dates available, the renter will need to select from the remaining available dates, excluding weekends and holidays. After the trip, if no damages are detected, the deposit will be refunded within 24 to 48 hours.

cancellation policy

Cancellations made at least 14 days prior to your charter date may receive a full refund minus a 5% service fee and may be processed through our website.

Cancellations submitted within 13 days of your charter date must be submitted in writing to contact@chicagoyachtsocial and will incur a 25% cancellation fee. 

Please note: Rescheduled charters are exempt from this cancellation policy. You may not reschedule and then cancel more than 14 days in advance in order to receive a full refund.

Inclement weather

For your safety, our captain or operator may deem conditions—such as heavy storms, small‑craft advisories, gale‑force winds or large waves—“uncharterable.” If we cancel for weather, you’ll receive a full credit toward a future charter of equal or lesser value, valid for one year. Light rain, passing showers and cooler temperatures are generally charterable, but we’ll continually monitor conditions to ensure your safety and enjoyment.

Captain information

For bareboat charters (up to 13 passengers), once your booking is confirmed, we’ll send you a list of vetted Captains who are familiar with our boats. You're also welcome to select your own qualified Captain, as long as their credentials are approved by us in advance. Just send any credentials to contact@chicagoyachtsocial.com for review.

Captains typically charge between $80–$120 per hour (before gratuity). A tip of 15–20% of the total charter price is customary and appreciated—please note this is separate from the Captain’s hourly rate. All payments and gratuities should be arranged directly with your Captain. We're happy to guide you through this process and help coordinate if needed.
